Yesterday afternoon approximately 10 rabbits came to the studio for a portrait session. And of course, with it being close to Easter we had to do some photographs with pink seamless, a few Easter eggs, and some flowers.
The couple who came in with the rabbits also brought their two children; ages 10 and 3. The 10 year old son is big into showing his rabbits and has been to several states with them. He is currently the NYRCBA Prince and is very proud of his title, as well he should be. We captured some photographs of him with his three show bunnies, his sash, and his awesome trophy.
The 3 year old daughter, born prematurely I discovered, dressed in her Easter bunny dress, was very active and helpful with picking up and placing the bunnies as well as putting some egg and flower props in the shots for us. To watch such a young child gently handle, cradle, and pet these rabbits was truly a sight.
The rabbits too, all had very unique personalities. Some would immediately try to hop away after being placed on the ottoman for their photograph. While others, like one show rabbit in particular, didn't move a muscle after being set down. Yet all of them were friendly and easily handled. Silly me of course had to hold one of the young bunnies and now I want one haha.
Not having very much experience with rabbits, I learned a lot from the couple and their children. I am very grateful and blessed to be expanding my knowledge and techniques for photographing different animals. (Anyone know someone with a tarantula or other really exotic pets?)
