My two photography loves: pets and fine art nudes!
I would do anything for my pets; they are my kids. They mean more to me than I could even tell you. My dog has his own blanket and pillow on my bed and a floor bed in the dining room and den (no couches in there for him to snuggle up on).
Every chance I get, I am photographing animals. The connection I develop with my animal subjects goes deeper than just "point and shoot". In order to make great art, you need to understand and become your subject. You have to spend time with them, learn their quirks, and capture their unique personalities on film to be remembered for years to come. Truly "capturing today's moment, for tomorrow's memory".
Honestly, if I could, I would open a sanctuary for every neglected and abused animal in the world. No longer would they feel afraid or poorly treated.
Being passionate about a certain topic is what sets us apart as photographers. Focusing on only one or two "genres" allows us to really hone our skills and perfect our craft.
While I still plan to shoot weddings and the occasional human portrait, my love, passion, and photographic career will be focusing on pet portraits and fine art nudes.
My basis for shooting nudes is because I love the human form and I believe it should be celebrated in all aspects. Fine art nudes are classy, elegant, and stunning. They truly allow the essence of ourselves to shine through. There is no clothing, no "comforts" to hide behind. It is embracing all that we are; simplistic and intricate. Showing we are all the same, and yet, we are all different and beautiful.
Stay tuned! There's more to come. Life is exciting, challenging, and beautiful. Never give up on your dreams.
